
Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) hosts top Management of Uganda Police Force (UPF)
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) management team, led by the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Julia Clare Olima Oyet hosted some members of top management of the Uganda Police Force led by the Deputy Director Human Resource Development, SCP Tusiime Anna to a networking engagement on January 31, 2025.
SCP Tusiime thanked the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer for the warm welcome accorded to their team. She affirmed that the Uganda Police Force was ready to work with DPF for purposes of bench marking in the areas of human resource development and strategy among others. She committed, on behalf of Uganda Police Force, to support DPF’s efforts to create public awareness among the police officers by availing opportunities for DPF to speak team them.

Dr. Julia thanked the team from Uganda Police Force for honouring the Fund’s invitation to the networking engagement. She shared a brief history of DPF, highlighting its core mandate of paying depositors up to a protected limit of UGX 10,000,000 in the event that their financial institution was closed by Bank of Uganda. She further informed the team that amounts above the protected limit are paid by a liquidator so appointed in accordance with the terms and conditions. Depositors were urged to take interest in and monitor the performance of their financial institution from credible sources. She also urged depositors to ensure that their personal information with the banks (National Identity number, phone number and alternative bank account number) is up to date.

The guests were updated about the functions of the different departments at the Fund by the respective Directors present. On the public awareness front especially, DPF’s Director Communications, Mr. Patrick O. Ezaga tabled a request to the Uganda Police to accord the DPF opportunities to speak to members of the forces as part of the enhancement of public awareness, a request that was accepted pending formalization..
