Deposit Protection Fund Welcomes Its First-Ever Cohort of Interns
The Deposit Protection Fund (DPF) has marked a significant milestone with admission and induction of the first-ever cohort of university interns since the Fund’s operationalization in 2017.
The induction session of the pioneer group of interns was officiated by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Julia Clare Olima Oyet (Mrs.), on Monday, 6 July 2027. The seven interns have been deployed in the departments of Finance and Operations, Investments, Internal Audit, and the Strategy and Risk Division.
While officially welcoming the pioneer interns, Dr. Olima Oyet delivered a high-level presentation on the Fund’s mandate, governance structure, and the critical role DPF plays in protecting depositors and promoting confidence in Uganda’s financial system.
The CEO congratulated the interns upon being the first group to roll out the Funds internship program. She noted that ss the pioneer internship cohort, they would set the tone for program and serve as the benchmark group from whom lessons will be drawn to enrich the program. She reaffirmed DPF’s commitment to nurturing young professionals through structured internship opportunities. “We appreciate having you as our first interns and look forward to growing this internship programme in the years ahead. Make the most of this opportunity, learn as much as you can, and enjoy your experience at the Fund,” she noted.
The internship programme reflects DPF’s commitment to developing young talent by providing practical learning experiences, professional mentorship, and exposure to the operations of Uganda’s deposit protection system.
