Deposit Protection Fund Supports Health at Rotary Cancer Run 2025
DPF’s Involvement and Purpose
The Deposit Protection Fund (DPF) made a significant mark at the 14th Rotary Cancer Run, held on August 31, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds. Gathering around 60,000 participants from across the nation, the event featured competitive 5km, 10km, and 21km races. This occasion provided an opportunity to promote cancer prevention and awareness on a national scale.
Fundraising Impact
Remarkably, this year’s run raised UGX 3.5 billion, a substantial increase from the UGX 2.1 billion collected in 2024. These funds will be directed towards completing two radiation bunkers at the Rotary Cancer Centre, Nsambya Hospital, essential for installing advanced linear accelerator machines for cancer treatment.

Engagement and Visibility
Beyond running, the event offered the DPF valuable chances for networking and engagement with sponsors and the public. By participating, DPF not only highlighted its core mandate but also demonstrated its commitment to social well-being and community health. DPF staff actively joined the races, underscoring the organization’s broader sense of responsibility.
Recognition
In appreciation of its ongoing support for the Rotary Cancer Run 2025, the DPF received a commemorative plaque.
