DPF Emerges as the 1ST Runner-Up at The Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards- November 06, 2024

The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) was announced as the 1st Runner-up in a tightly contested competition in the category of Parastatals during The 2024 Financial Reporting (FiRe)  Awards. This was the Fund’s maiden full entry of its integrated annual report into the competition. In the previous year, DPF  emerged as the 2nd  runner up. Other finalists in the category were National Social Security Fund (NSSF), National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) and Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC).

The colorful event was held at Serena Kampala Hotel on Wednesday November 06, 2024 under the theme “Promoting Excellence in Corporate Reporting: Disclosing ESG Performance and Progress”. The FiRe Awards were introduced in 2011 to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda. This year’s edition was attended by a mammoth gathering of 106 enthusiastic entities from across a broad range of actors in the finance and accounts sector.

The Chief Guest, Gen. Katumba Wamala, Minister of Works and Transport appealed to organizations to lay focus on and embrace sustainability to combat climate change in addition to their already commendable emphasis on transparency and best practices.

On her part, the DPF CEO extended profound congratulations first to the Finance and Operations Team for commendable position of 1st Runner-up and for spearheading the upgrade and transition to the new reporting format. She expressed appreciation to all the other departments for their contribution to the report and urged the team to focus on attaining the top slot in the next awards.
