DPF HOLDS MEDIA ENGAGEMENT IN LIRA CITY
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) on December 5, 2024, held a regional media engagement in Lira City which brought together members of the media fraternity in Lango sub-region districts of Amol Atar, Apac, Dokolo, Oyam, and Lira City among others. The engagements, held on a bi-annual basis across the different sub-regions of the country, is one of the key initiatives aimed at creating awareness about DPF’s mandate to its stakeholders, the media inclusive.
The objective of the media engagements is to empower members of the media with the requisite knowledge and information about the concept of deposit insurance. This will in turn enable them to report accurately about the DPF and mandate. The media engagements also support DPF’s strategic objective to enhance public awareness.
Addressing the participants during the engagement, the DPF Director Communications Mr. Patrick Ezaga urged participants to endeavor to always be up-to-dated about developments in financial sector. He noted that with the advent of advanced technology like Tiktok and Artificial Intelligence, collection, manipulation and appropriate use of information has become complex. He therefore urged participants to always ensure that they report accurately, lest the public loses confidence in the sector. Mr. Ezaga stated that the Fund was actively building and growing its relationship with the media given the vital role they played in dissemination of information to the public. After the presentation and interaction sessions, Mr. Ezaga thanked the participants for sparing time to attend the engagement.
