Next Media Services Group CEO hosts Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) Senior Management to a courtesy visit – September 14, 2023

The Group CEO of Next Media Services, Mr. Kin Kariisa hosted a delegation from the Deposit Protection Fund led by the CEO, Dr. Julia Clare Olima Oyet to a courtesy visit. The DPF Management team comprised of Mr. Balaam Ssempala (Director Information Technology), Mr. Alan Lwetabe (Director Investment), Mr. Yusuf Mukiibi (Director Finance and Operations), Mr. Patrick Ezaga (Director Communications) and Ms. Mariam Nalunkuuma (Assistant Manager, Communications).

The visit was a reciprocation of an earlier one in which DPF hosted the leadership of Next Media Services. The engagements are part of the Fund’s effort to foster and enhance cordial relations with strategic stakeholders such as the media which is the primary platform for driving the Fund’s public awareness. The significance of the engagement is further underscored by the tremendous transformations manifesting in both the media and financial landscapes.

Dr. Julia Oyet appreciated Mr. Kariisa and the Next Media Services management for the warm reception and noted that synergies between the Fund and the media goes beyond deposit protection and extends to contributing to the resilience of the financial sector by fostering confidence among depositors.

The CEOs delved into a discussion of the common interests shared by Fund and the Next Media Services in promoting financial literacy and confidence among the public. Both leaders recognized that the media plays a critical role in disseminating accurate information about financial matters, which in turn, contributes to the overall stability of the financial sector.

Mr. Kariisa appreciated DPF for the partnership and noted that his team was open to discussing even more exciting opportunities in order to support the Fund’s efforts to achieve its mandate. The two Principals agreed to continue working together for mutual growth and development of their respective entities.
