DPF courtesy visit to NCBA Bank – May 2, 2023
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) paid a courtesy visit to NCBA Bank, on May 2, 2023. The visit also doubled as an inspection exit meeting, following the inspection exercise that had been conducted by the DPF Operations team at NCBA Bank. The DPF team, led by the Ag. Chief Executive Officer Mr. Patrick Ezaga interacted with members of NCBA Bank’s management led by Mr. Mark Muyobo, the Managing Director.
In his remarks, Mr. Ezaga appreciated NCBA Bank for always being responsive to engagements with DPF and noted that continued collaboration was vital in contributing to sustained growth and stability of the sector. While elaborating the Fund’s efforts on public awareness, Mr. Ezaga lauded NCBA Bank for adhering to the requirement of prominently displaying DPF posters in the banking hall. He drew their attention to ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Financial Institutions Act relating to public awareness and information sharing. He urged NCBA management to support the Fund’s public awareness efforts through its ongoing activities including the customer satisfaction dipstick surveys, the envisaged training for the frontline staff and interlinkage of the two institutions’ websites. On the latter, he informed the team that all Contributing Institutions’ logos and links were displayed on the DPF website and as such, a reciprocal gesture by NCBA would be very much appreciated.
Mr. Muyobo appreciated the DPF team for the visit and for their efforts towards the stability of the financial sector. He confirmed to the DPF team that NCBA Bank would continue cooperating and being supportive of the Fund’s initiatives.
Mr. Yusuf Mukiibi, the DPF Director Finance and Operations informed the bank team that in line with the Fund’s mandate of paying depositors their protected deposits, accurate and complete depositor data was very vital. He informed the NCBA team that DPF was planning an engagement for Contributing Institutions’ staff responsible for uploading data on the Depositor Payout and Premium Management System and thus looked forward to NCBA’s participation.
