DPF to participate in the Insurance Week 2024, 11th – 15th March, 2024

On Friday March 01, 2024, the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda joined the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda and other insurance stakeholders to launch the 2024 Annual Insurance Week. The Insurance week slated to start on March 11th – 15th, 2024 shall be held at the Railway Grounds in Kampala.

DPF’s Chief Executive Officer was represented by the Director Investments, Mr. Alan Lwetabe. In his remarks, Mr. Lwetabe noted that “the Fund was cognizant of the vital role played by the Insurance Week in fostering a better understanding of insurance and its significance in safeguarding individuals and businesses against unexpected events.”

“The Insurance Week presents an opportunity for the Fund to interface with the public (depositors) and to share with them more information about the concept of deposit insurance,” Lwetabe said. He reiterated the Fund’s intention to continue its collaboration with the insurance sector players.

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Chief Executive Officer, Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, stated that the Insurance Week will be held under the theme, InsureVate: Igniting Excellence in the Insurance Sector. “As an industry, we have embraced innovation and technology to better serve our customers, streamline operations and enhance risk management strategies. Whether it is through digital platforms, data analytics or personalized solutions, we continue to evolve to meet the evolving needs of our clients,” he emphasized.

Other partners supporting the Insurance Week 2024 include the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA), Insurance Training College (ITC), Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU), Uganda Reinsurance Company Limited and Georgina Eye Clinic.
