21st IADI Annual Conference & Annual General Meeting
DPF Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Julia Clare Olima Oyet led a delegation from the Fund to participate in the 21st IADI Annual Conference & AGM, hosted by Seguro de Depósitos Sociedad Anónima (SEDESA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The conference was organized under the theme, “Storm Clouds on the Horizon: fostering resilient safety-nets for uncertain times” and ran between October 24, 2022 and October 28, 2022. Other delegates were Mr. Wilbrod Humphreys Owor (DPF Board Member) & Mr. Felix Nsiimoomwe (Assistant Manager Board Affairs).
Discussions at the conference were centered around identifying challenges & opportunities facing the global economy, focusing on the mix of regulatory and user protection policies needed in the current volatile environment and proposing innovations or initiatives from deposit insurers and resolution authorities to strengthen operational readiness and resilience for a challenging environment and potential bank failures.
The conference kicked off with the meetings of the IADI Technical Committees, Council Committees, Regional Committees, and the 74th Executive Council Meeting (EXCO). Mrs. Oyet, the Vice Chairperson for the Africa Regional Committee chaired the ARC meeting, which brought together ARC members and associates.
The ARC aims to support members to implement reliable deposit insurance systems in Africa & advocate for the systems’ deepening on the continent to enhance public confidence in the financial sector while promoting international solidarity and standards. At the same meeting, Mrs. Julia Oyet was elected to the IADI Executive Committee, representing the African Region.
